Domaine La Celestiere, Châteauneuf Du Pape, Cuvée Les Domaines Rouge 2011

$640/btl

- Organic Practice

Region: Chateaneuf du Pape AOC, Southern Rhone, France
Grape Varieties:   Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre.
Alcohol: 15%

Vinification:
Cultivated in sandy soil and clay-limestone. Aged in oak for at least 18 months.

Tasting notes:

Intense nose of sour cherries with brandy and kirch on the noses, then evolving towards aromas of white tobacco, prunes and cinnamon.  Old vines of grenache and Mourvèdre flatters the palate by its amplitude and its density.  Well balanced wine, combining richness and suppleness that is seductive today but it also has a nice potential for the coming decade.

Rating: Jancis Robinson: 17 pts

Food Pairing: Game with wine sauce, Chocolate dessert, Goat cheese.

Winery Story
La Celestiere is located at several terroir in heart of ancient Chateaneuf du Pape villages. Many of their vines are close to 100 years of age. The winery is now one of the most modern domaines in Chateaneuf du Pape, and all vineyard work are  done by organic practice. The winery has received extremely positive feedback from wine connoisseurs since re-launched in 2009. The wine style is prominent, pure, fruit forward and full of complexity.
